Best Vegetables Vine Plants For Balconies & Gardens

How to Grow Vine Vegetables

Creeper or vine vegetables like- Gourd, Luffa, Cucumber, Tinda, Bitter gourd, Melon, Melon, Ash gourd, Gilaki, Bean, Snake gourd, Lobia Beans or Cowpea etc. can be grown in summer season from March to June. The seeds are sown in polythene bags to prepare the nursery of these vegetables in the winter season i.e. in the month of December and January. These bags are filled with a mixture of soil, compost and sand in the ratio 1:1:1. Before filling the mixture, 2-3 holes are made in the bottom of each pouch to drain the water. After filling the bags, a light irrigation is given. It is necessary to germinate the seeds of Belwali vegetables before sowing them in bags.

For good production of vine vegetables, plants are first prepared from their seeds and then they are transplanted into big pots or grow bags. Loamy, well drained soils rich in organic matter and nutrients are suitable for the production of vine vegetables. Various methods can be used to support vegetables that grow as vines, such as: mesh, frame, pergola, plant cage, creeper net, fencing, or wall.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are generally considered to be part of the vegetable family. Cucumber is produced in the summer season and it provides coolness to our body. Cucumber plant is also hanging like a vine. Cucumber is a popular creeper or vine growing vegetable for vertical gardens. Supporting the cucumber plant with a net or creeper net makes it easier to break the cucumber fruit and is less likely to be affected by pests and diseases. So that the cover of the seeds becomes soft and the seeds can germinate faster. If the soil is moist enough, do not soak the seeds in water.
