Where to get seeds

Always use natural breeding seeds and not hybrid seeds for growing vegetables. Seeds can be purchased from your nearest nursery or seed shop but it is better to take them from a government institution or a place that is known for good seeds

How to prepare Soil

Generally, the preparation of beds or pots should be done by the end of September and the beginning of February. This is the right time for sowing. Soil can be ordered from the fields or can also be taken from the park etc. If there are insects in the soil, then add vermicompost i.e. earthworm manure. While preparing the soil, keep 2 parts soil, 1 part cow dung manure, and 1 part dry leaves. Mix them well. Add some sand too. While preparing the soil, if dry leaves of neem are put in it, then insects will not grow.

how to make a pot

Place broken pieces of pot or small stones in the bottom of the pot (where the drainage is made) before filling the soil into the pots, so that the soil nutrition does not leak out with the water. One-third of the pot should be left empty so that soil and compost do not flow out from the top when watering. Whenever a seed is planted, put it deep inside a layer of soil twice its size, or else it will take a long time for the seedling to sprout and it will take weeks for the buds to come out. After pouring the soil, add light water.

how much sunlight is needed

Sunlight is very important for any plant. This rule also applies to vegetable plants. The seeds need sunlight while sprouting. Otherwise, they will remain small and weak in size. 3-4 hours of sunlight per day is sufficient but protects the plants from the harsh afternoon sun in summer. For this, it is better if a mesh shed is made a little above the plants.

how much water

Due to excessive water, the oxygen present between the soil particles does not reach the roots of the plants, so water only when the pots feel dry. Take note of the weather as well. Watering should be done every fourth-fifth day in winter and every day in summer. There is no need to water the plants during rainy season and the next day. Water should be given only in the morning or evening. Do not forget to water the plants in strong sunlight. This puts the plants at risk of burns.

how much to fertilize

No plant needs much fertilizer. Fertilizer is usually given at the time of planting the plants and again at the time of growing fruits and flowers or vegetables. Always use organic fertilizers. This manure is made from living organisms, such as manure from cow dung, manure made from animal excreta, etc. They do not contain harmful chemicals. Packets of organic manure are available from any good nursery.

some more tips

In order to keep air and water well in the soil of pots or beds, it is necessary to mulch the plants. Try putting your finger in the soil of the pots. If the soil is too hard, do hoeing. Mow the soil at least once a month.
