Water Requirements

Cactus is actively growing and blooming during summers and springs. All it needs is a mug full of water and you are free for next 10 days. Allow the poured water to fully dry out. After the 10th day, ensure that the water has been soaked, once it’s dried, pour the water again.

Light Requirements

Cactus requires daily dose of sunlight. The survival of cacti depends upon the hours of sunlight it is getting on a regular basis. The hours vary between 4-6 hours every day. Therefore, place your cactus plant nearby or at your window racks where the plant can receive an ample amount of sunlight throughout the day times. However, during summers, you need be a bit careful as there’s a harsh sunlight during noon. Thus, placing your cacti on your balcony shelves or a bit far from window can help it get a filtered sunlight as it is not directly exposed to the sun. Remember that the cactus cannot survive at dark places.

Required Soil Type

Cactus when planted in an earthen pot just needs regular potting soil along with some sand and perlite. This is because the mixture enables the easy aeration process. However, make sure to have a small hole at the bottom of the planted pot so that the extra water can get flowed from it.  When this requirement is met, you can see your cacti growing fine and happy.

Fertilizer Needs

Cactus needs an ideal fertilizer during its initial growing stage. The fertilizer used should be higher in nitrogen content. Nitrogen tends to make your cactus grow healthier and comparatively more robust with brighter green color and fuller leaves.  Thus, adding fertilizer in the right amount would act as a nutrition giver to your cacti.

Temperature needs

Being known as a desert plant, cacti are used to survive in hot temperatures. This is the reason why it is suggested to keep the cactus under the light of sun. The fun fact is that it cannot just withstand summers but winters. The ideal temperature for cactus ranges between 45 degrees Fahrenheit to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Along with this cactus also requires a humid surrounding for its survival. Cactus needs a relative humidity of 40% to 60% which is easy to get in most of the home arrangements.
