Follow these tips to grow plants from Leaves

Gardening means gardening is the hobby of many people, for which they plant different types of plants in the garden of their house, terrace, or farmhouse. The plant-filled garden is a great place to sit on summer evenings. Everyone would love to spend time among the colorful, aromatic plants. There are many ways to plant a plant, such as planting it from seed or from cuttings. But did you know that you can plant with leaves too? Many plants are propagated from cuttings of a twig. But there are many other plants that you can grow from their leaves too. These plants mostly include plants under succulent and cactus species.

Snake plant is a very common plant that is propagated by leaves. Even if you have one inch of its leaf, you can still plant it. Apart from this, you can also plant Aloe vera, Jade Plant, Patharchatta / Bryophyllum, Rubber Plant, Money Plant, Mother of Thousands Plant, Croton Plant, Cactus Plant, etc.

What to take care

  • Your potting mix should be very light and crumbly for the leaves to propagate.
  • For potting mix, you can add compost, cocopeat, or sand to the soil. Apart from this, if desired, nutritious things like perlite and vermiculite can also be added.
  • When preparing Potting mix, add a small amount of fungicide to it so that the leaves are not damaged by fungus.
  • After planting the leaves in the potting mix, place them in a place where there is light but no direct sunlight.
  • Take special care of water.  Always spray water and only as much moisture as the potting mix can keep. If there is too much water, the leaves start wilting.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a popular house plant due to its various health and medicinal benefits. Aloe vera is known by different names like Ghritkumari, Guarpatha, Ghee Kunwar in different regions of the country. It is such a medicinal plant, which can be grown quite easily in pots too. You can also plant it from its leaf cuttings.

Tips to grow Aloe vera Plant from Leaves

  • First of all, take a cutting of aloe vera leaf.
  • Keep it in a shady place to dry so that the cut made in it dries up.
  • After drying, apply it to potting mix and spray it with water.
  • It may take up to a month for roots to form. So be patient.
  • But when your leaf starts growing upwards then you can understand that root formation has started.

Snake Plant

Snake plant is an easy to grow plant, which is easy to grow. You can also put it in low-light places. You do not need to buy seeds or a new plant to plant it. This air purifier plant grows from a single cutting. You can plant it in soil or water. Rather, you have to break a leaf of the snake plant and cut the back part of it to a size. Now, this leaf can be cut into three or four parts according to its size. At the same time, try to cut the leaf at least three inches, so that it is easier while shifting it in the pot.

Tips to grow Snake Plant from Leaves

  • You take a small / medium sized pot.
  • There should be a hole in the bottom of the pot, on which you place a pebble or a lamp and fill the potting mix in it.
  • Now put the cuttings taken from the plant in it.
  • Give water by spray. If this is an indoor plant, then keep it in a shaded place.
  • It may take a month or more for its leaves to develop.

Jade plant

The jade plant has small white and pink flowers. It is believed that this plant brings good luck and blessings to your homes, and beautiful flowers adorn the interior of your home. Jade plant is a succulent variety and it is very easy to plant it from the leaves. Some species of succulent plants are used as ornamental plants, while some are helpful in purifying the air of the house.

Tips to grow jade plant from Leaves

  • First of all, take the leaves of the jade plant and dry them in the shade for a day or two.
  • Now take a wide container, which has holes in the bottom. Fill potting mix in it.
  • Before filling the potting mix in the container, you can place a stone over the hole.
  • After filling the potting mix, place the leaves on top of it.
  • Spray a little water on it.
  • Keep the container in such a place, where there is no direct sunlight, but good light comes.
  • Even while watering, you have to take care that the water should not be too much because the leaves will rot due to too much water.
  • It may take 15 days to a month for the leaves to develop.

Patharchatta / Bryophyllum

Pathar Chatta is also included in the list of medicinal plants. It looks good and is also very beneficial for health. There are small buds on the edge of its leaves. If you put them in the pot itself, then plants also grow from them. Apart from this, take a cutting of a leaf.

That’s why people like to plant rubber plant in the house very much. Along with enhancing the beauty of the house, it also helps in cleaning the air inside. You can also apply it with the leaves.

Money plant

Croton plants
