Sanjeevani Plant / Jadi Buti of Ramayana

The story of Ramayana says that Hanuman brought Sanjeevani herb from the caves of the Himalayas to revive the ‘unconscious’ Lakshmana. This story of Tretayug seems unbelievable to hear today. When Lakshmana fainted, Vaidya Sushen was called from Lanka at the behest of Vibhishana. Sushen said as soon as he came that if anything can save Lakshmana, it is the four herbs – Mritysanjeevani, Vishyakarni, Suvarnakarni and Sandhani Bootis. All these herbs could be found only in the Himalayas.

Hanuman reached the Himalaya Mountains by walking on the sky. Sushen had described Sanjeevani as a herb with a bright aura and a strange smell. There were many such herbs on the mountain. Due to not being recognized, Hanuman ji broke only a part of the mountain and took it away. Hanuman, who reached the battlefield with the mountain, kept the mountain there. Vaidya recognized the Sanjeevani herb and treated Lakshmana. Lakshmana got cured and Rama defeated Ravana in the battle. The mountain brought by Hanuman remained there. Today the whole world knows that mountain by the name of Rumassala mountain.

There are many such places on the south sea shore of Sri Lanka, which are said to have fallen pieces of a mountain brought by Hanuman. Among them, Rumasala Hill is the most important. The special thing is that wherever these pieces fell, the climate and soil changed there.

Sanjeevani Buti / Plant in Himalaya

The mention of Sanjeevani Booti is found in the Ramayana period of Treta Yuga. When Lakshmana fainted during the ongoing war between Ravana and Rama in Sri Lanka, the legitimate Susena of Lanka demanded to bring Sanjeevani Booti. Sushen Vaidhi had asked Hanuman ji to bring a bright and strange smelling herb as the identity of Sanjeevani Booti. Then Hanuman ji had brought only a part of the mountain due to not being able to identify among the many Sanjeevani-like herbs in the Himalayan valleys. It can be estimated from this context that this miraculous herb is found on the Himalayan Mountains.
