The sowing time of most vegetable crops starts in the month of February. The sowing of these crops continues till March. These crops give good yields when sown at this time. Vegetables like Cucumber, Cucumber, Bitter gourd, Gourd, Luffa, Petha, Spinach, Cauliflower, Brinjal, Okra, Arabic Mirchi Tomato should be sown in this season. After the months of April and May, the prices of vegetables are sky high. In such a situation, good income can be earned by sowing vegetables till the month of February and March. Vegetables are cultivated every month throughout the year. But not the same vegetables are planted in every month, but there is a proper time and month to plant all the vegetables in the field. If vegetables are planted without time, neither flowers will grow in them nor vegetables will grow on the plant.

In order to get full yield of any crop in agriculture, it is very important to have the right time in the right season. Therefore, the cultivation of vegetables should be done in the right season and in the right month. So we now know which vegetables are planted in February and March.

Vegetable Cultivation Preparing Nursery in February

Eggplant, tomato, cauliflower, cabbage, all these seeds are very small, so their first nursery is prepared. After that, when the plants are 30 to 35 days old in the nursery, their plants are uprooted and transplanted into the main field. In such a situation, when brinjal, tomato, cauliflower, cabbage, all the vegetables with small seeds are planted in February. Their nursery is put in the last week of December. Since December and January frost is very high, so plants grow very slowly in the nursery which becomes eligible for planting in February or March.

Method of Planting Vegetables in February and March

In the month of February, all the vegetables are sown in a row on either side of the pit by making a pit, then it should be kept in mind that the pit or row should always be made towards north and south direction. Because from December to March, the sun goes towards the west through the north direction for the whole day. Therefore, by making a row in the north and south direction, equal amount of sunlight falls on both the ridges of the row. Due to which the deposition of seeds takes place simultaneously and quickly. And if the queue is made towards east and west, then sunlight will not be sufficient on both the rows but only on the line which is towards north direction. In such a situation, the deposition of seeds will happen earlier and on the one hand it will be delayed by about 10 to 15 days.

Cucumber

For the cultivation of cucumber, prepare the field properly and make beds in it. Sow it in line only. Line to line distance should be 1.5 m and plant to plant distance is 1 m. Weeding and hoeing should be done after 20 to 25 days after sowing. Keep the field clean and give light irrigation every week when the temperature rises. Keep removing weeds from the field.

Kakdi / Cucumber

An appropriate time for sowing cucumber is from February to March, but for early harvest, it can be planted in January by filling seeds in polythene bags. It can be grown in almost all types of soil. Add cow dung manure at the time of land preparation. Cucumber should be sown in 2 meter wide beds on the banks of the drain. Plant to plant spacing should be 60 cm. Sow two to three seeds at one place. Later keep only one plant at one place. The months of February and March are suitable for the cultivation of cucumber.

Bitter Gourd

Light loamy soil is good for the cultivation of bitter gourd. Bitter gourd is sown in two ways – from seed and plant. For bitter gourd cultivation, 2 to 3 seeds should be sown at a distance of 2.5 to 5 meters. Seeds should be soaked in water for 24 hours before sowing, for faster and better germination. The land along the rivers is good for the cultivation of bitter gourd. It can be cultivated in some acidic soils.

Gourd

Gourd can be cultivated in all types of soil but loamy soil is best for it. Seeds should be soaked in water for 24 hours before planting By doing this, the germination of seeds is quick. For gourd seeds, 50 cm wide and 20 to 25 cm deep drains should be made at a distance of 2.5 to 3.5 meters. Seeds should be sown at a distance of 60 to 75 cm in summer on both sides of these drains. Sow 2 to 3 seeds at one place at a depth of 4 cm.

Ladyfinger

The early varieties of lady’s finger are sown between February to March. Bhindi is such a vegetable, which is cultivated in all types of soil. For the cultivation of ladyfinger, the soil should be friable. Sowing should be done in rows. Row to row distance should be 25-30 cm and row to row distance should be 15-20 cm. First weeding is necessary 15-20 days after sowing. Chemicals can also be used for weed control.

Ridge Gourd

Light loamy soil is considered best for the cultivation of Luffa. The land along the rivers is good for its cultivation. Before sowing, the soil of the field should be pulverized. For this the row to row distance should be 1 to 1.20 meters and plant to plant distance should be one meter. Two seeds should be sown at one place. Do not plant the seed too deeply as it affects germination.

Spinach

Sandy loam or clay soil is good for spinach, but keep in mind that spinach is not cultivated in acidic soil. The soil in which it is to be planted should be made friable. For sowing, row to row distance should be kept 20 to 25 cm and plant to plant distance 20 cm. Spinach seeds should be sown at a depth of 2 to 3 cm, and should not be sown deeper than this.

Arabic

Sandy loam soil is good for the cultivation of arbi. For this the ground should be deep. So that proper development of its tubers can be done. Make flat beds for the cultivation of arbi. For this the distance from row to row is 45 cm. And the distance from plant to plant should be 30 cm. Sow its bales at a depth of 6 to 7 cm. It does well in sandy loamy soil. Deep soil is required for the development of its tubers.

Eggplant

Brinjal tree is prepared in February and sowing is done in April. Well drained loamy soil is suitable for the cultivation of brinjal. For the cultivation of brinjal, the distance between two plants and two rows should be 60 cm.

Petha

Loamy and sandy loam soil is considered best for the cultivation of Petha Pumpkin. Apart from this, it can be easily grown in less acidic soil. Before sowing of petha, the soil should be made fine-grained. For its sowing, a straight wooden stick of about 15 hands long is taken, in this pole, tie a lace at a distance of two hands and make a mark so that the line does not become crooked. At the distance of two hands, at the difference of length and width, the cow dung manure is made in a straight line.

Chilly

Chilli cultivation is done twice a year. It is good to transplant summer chillies in February-March. For sowing of chilli seeds, 1 to 3 m. It is done by making raised beds. Then the seedlings are planted in the proper field at 75 cm. Keeping the distance of the row, plant the plants at the distance of 60 cm.

Tomato

Tomato cultivation is also done twice a year. For winter season it is sown in the month of January-February. For sowing tomato seeds 1 to 3 m. It is done by making raised beds. After sowing the seeds cover with cow dung or soil. Now transplant 25 to 30 day old plants. The seedlings should be planted in the proper field at 75 cm. Keeping the distance of the row, plant the plants at the distance of 60 cm.

Cauliflower / Cabbage

Cauliflower or Cabbage is cultivated twice a year. It is good to transplant summer cabbage in February-March.
