Ipomoea x multifida: This species is in the form of cardinal climber, a hybrid with smaller but deep red flowers that bloom like morning glory bells.

Ipomoea purpurea 'Star of Yelta': This species produces deep purple flowers with deep red stars and short white throats.

Ipomoea purpurea 'Kniola's Black': Another purple-flowered cultivar of Ipomoea purpurea, but darker than 'Star of Yelta'.
