Turmeric is an Indian vegetable. It is a 3- to 8-foot growing plant of ginger species, in which turmeric is found in the root knots. Turmeric is beneficial for health in many ways. Raw turmeric has its own benefits, especially in the winter season. Turmeric can be used in many ways. Drinking turmeric mixed with milk and water, while on one hand provides relief in phlegm and cold, on the other hand, swelling of the body is also reduced.

By the way, turmeric is used as a variety of Ayurvedic medicines or in the form of kitchen spices. But turmeric proves to be very useful even when we talk about our kitchen garden. Turmeric is also very beneficial for the growth of plants. If the soil of your plants is drying up, then adding turmeric powder to the soil of your plants makes the soil fertile. Due to this the plants start growing very fast. Especially the money plant plant grows very fast. Apart from this, adding turmeric powder to the soil of some vegetable plants like lady's finger and brinjal plant also makes them grow very fast.

Curcuma/ Turmeric in Hindi Haldi, the plant belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), the tuberous rhizomes, or underground stems is rich in medical substance and also used as a textile dye as an aromatic stimulant. The Turmeric plant requires temperatures between 20 - 30 °C (68 and 86 °F) and a significant amount of annual rainfall to boom, this plant is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

For centuries Turmeric is renowned in Asia as a vital part of Ayurveda in India, In traditional Chinese medicine Siddha medicine, Unani, and the animistic rituals of Austronesian but at first, it was famous as a dye, and then because of its medical property it is used as medicine. Hinduism and Buddhism introduce and spread the use of turmeric to southern Asia from India, as the yellow dye used to color the fine clothes of scholars (pandits).

Uses and Benefits / उपयोग एवं फायदे

The harvested roots are boiled and sun-dried for 8-9 days or can be used fresh. It gives dishes a magnificent yellow color and is called food dye. In Indonesia, the tender shoots and turmeric roots tips are eaten raw and Leave are wrapped around fish to flavor it during cooking.
