Introduction / परिचय

In Asian Subcontinent Cardamom, Cardamum, or Elaichi in Hindi is used in the majority as a spice and for ayurvedic treatments in India. This spice is made from the seeds of various plants in the families of Elettaria, Amomum, and Zingiberaceae. These spices are native to the Indian subcontinent. In features, Cardamom looks like small seed pods: three-sided in cross-section and spindle-shaped, with a thin, thin outside shell and tiny, black seeds; These Elettaria pods are light green and smaller, while Amomum pods are bigger in size and dark brown.

History / इतिहास

The Cardamom (Elaichi) is identified to be one of the oldest species known in the history of human society. Cardamom is found in the Western Ghats of South West India. The first references of this magical spice Cardamom (Elaichi) are found in the Ayurvedic literature in India. The German coffee planter Oscar Majus Klöffer introduced Indian cardamom to cultivation in Guatemala before the First World War By the year 2000 Guatemala country become the largest producer and exporter of cardamom around the globe. Now it is also grown in Malaysia and Tanzania.
