Indoor Gardening: How do Plants get Enough Sunlight, Water and Air

The growth of any plant requires a lot of sunlight, water and air. The supply of these basic things has to be taken care of especially when you are doing indoor gardening. We all know how important sunlight is for the growth of any plant.

Plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight through a process called photosynthesis. If we talk about indoor plants, then due to continuous stay inside the room, the leaves of these plants start turning yellow. The sticks become thinner and longer. The plant kept in the room starts growing in the direction of the light coming from the window. That is why no plant should be kept inside the room for a long time. After three to four days, the plant should be taken out to show sunlight.

Plants need more and less water according to the season. Where a lot of water is needed in summer, relatively less in winter and even less in rainy season. Most people water their plants daily as per the rule. Controlling the air is very important for indoor plants. Plants need fresh air. When you plant a plant indoors, make sure that it gets fresh air daily. For this, you open the window in the morning and evening. Opening the window will not only bring fresh air but also the rays of the sun into the house. Fresh air does not mean strong wind. Plants should not be kept immediately near strong wind.

There is a belief of people behind watering that for better growth of plants, they should be watered daily, but this belief is wrong. The amount of water depends on evaporation. Indoor plants do not have much evaporation, so do not over-water them. Over watering causes the roots of the plant to rot. If after watering the pot, mud is formed or the water does not go down to the bottom, then change the soil of the pot. Sometimes this happens due to the closure of the bottom of the pot. If the hole is clogged and water is not draining out properly, the plant will die.
