Best Soil for Growing the Plant and Trees

Such soil is most suitable for trees and plants, in which all the nutrients are in proper quantity as well as which has good water holding capacity. Although any one type of soil is suitable for all plants or crops, it is not so for example loamy soil (in which clay content is high) is considered good for almost all crops but for potato and groundnut, loamy soil ( Light soil with more sand) is more suitable.

Loamy or alluvial soil which has high nutrient and water holding capacity is suitable for all crops. Due to good water holding capacity, less amount of water is suitable for crops and there is no loss of nutrients. Use of only loamy soil in pots is not suitable.

Before starting gardening, it is essential to test the garden soil. The most common test for soil is a litmus test or pH test. When you put a soil sample on litmus paper, if it turns red, the soil is above a pH of 7, which means it is acidic. You also need to look at the colour, texture and nature of water retention of the soil.

Take Measures

Testing alone is not enough. If the soil is more acidic you will need to add lime. And if the soil is more alkaline then adding sulfur to it is a common solution.

Nutrition

After you have taken into account the nature of your garden, also make sure that it is healthy. Fertilizers need to be added to the soil for nutrition. Use natural method in the beginning and chemical later.

Compost is a basic requirement in garden soil. To prepare it, it is essential that you collect your household waste such as green vegetables and their peels and use them as a flawless compost. This will nourish the soil and nourish the plants.
